In 1937, the "July 7" Incident broke out. Inspired by the Chairman of Sichuan Province, the Sichuan Army asked Ying to come out of Sichuan to fight against Japan. This Sichuan army was brave after realizing its shame, and with the determination to "never return to Sichuan without regaining the lost territory", it went out with three million warriors and suffered 600,000 casualties, earning its reputation as "no army can be formed without Sichuan". Student company commander Zhang Kang led his officers and soldiers to go out with the Sichuan Army's North Column and fought in present-day Shanxi, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan and other places. In major battles such as the Taierzhuang Battle, they launched a series of thrilling life-and-death battles with the Japanese army. Through the baptism of war, Zhang Kang formed a life-and-death friendship with the Sichuan Army soldiers, and his love with the female student Xia Zhiyue was also sublimated in the blood and fire. Zhang Kang's soldiers, Yang Degui, Wang Changsheng, Wu Tianlu, He Yinyang, Hei Wa and others, although they were of different origins and had very different personalities, they were inspired by the national righteousness and came to the same destination by different routes. In the end, in order to protect Zhang Kang from danger, they sacrificed their lives generously, composing a heroic hymn that is both evocative and heart-wrenching.
