The young entrepreneur Dennis from Katernberg persuades Ecki to take over the holiday representation for his online garden gnomes mail order company. For a ten percent commission, of course. Orders are in full swing. But after a short time there was a hail of complaints: After Ecki lost the key to Dennis' storage room, he didn't send the original gnomes, but replacement ones. When Ecki gets “Mama” to help, it quickly becomes clear that he has really gotten himself into trouble. Mattern finds out that Dennis' garden gnomes were filled with drugs. To make matters worse, the drug squad comes onto the scene and Manfred Mattern has his hands full saving his friend Ecki. And bring the true culprit to justice. (Text: ARD)

He has no idea that Ecki's brother-in-law did some crooked things during his lifetime. And that takes revenge beyond death. Because one of the victims shows up at Matterns and kidnaps mother Evelyn's star of the eyes, the wire-haired dachshund Cherry: only when he has his valuable silver medal back will he give the dachshund back. From then on, “Mama” fights on several fronts to get back the missing stolen goods from Ecki's brother-in-law, to bring Cherry home and not to tarnish the honor of Ecki's family. (Text: ARD)
Petrol thieves are up to mischief in Katernberg: under the cover of darkness, they tap into the tanks of countless cars parked on the street. That almost cost the Katernberg bum Rainer his life. When he has an accident at night, no one can come to his aid at first the tanks are empty. “Mama” finally saves the injured Rainer and, on the advice of Dr. Elshoff and against Mother Mattern's indignant resistance, spend a few days in the living room at home to recover. Of course, Manfred Mattern would like to put a stop to these petrol thieves next. It's just strange that his friends Ecki, Willi and Milan don't really follow along. And what's even weirder is that the three of them seem to be getting gas very cheaply lately, but they don't want to tell "Mom" where. Mattern's research leads him to the striking automobile specialist Collie. Does she just want to wrap Manfred around her finger to distract him from her criminal gasoline deals? Or is she really interested in “Mom”? (Text: ARD)
Grandpa Rudi is gone. He hasn't shown up to Manfred Mattern's friend Ecki's "Schnitzel Day" twice. And also Ms. Dr. Elshoff is worried because the old man hasn't come to pick up his heart pills for days. When Evelyn Mattern finally paints the devil on the wall, “Mama” goes looking. And researches Grandpa Rudi's favorite place to stay, the allotment garden association. Nobody claims to have seen the old gentleman; he is supposedly on treatment. Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that. “Mom” discovers that Piontek, who was recently released from prison, and Grandpa Rudi were involved with each other. It is said to have been about sports betting by the Chinese betting mafia. And all of this in Willis Garagenhof in Katernberg? In any case, the two senior friends from Grandpa Rudi's allotment club seem to know more than they initially want to admit (Text: ARD)
Sigrid, Ecki's helper in his fast food restaurant, wants to get married. And the future husband wants to take her name: Zyzek. There must be something wrong, Manfred Mattern fears. And that's how it is: Sigrid's beloved is a convicted petty criminal who is currently serving a prison sentence, but is already on the loose. Because he owes money to the well-known criminal “Polar Bear”, he is supposed to be the front man in a robbery at the central cash register of the local shopping center. The "mom" comes up with a clever plan to control the robbery with the help of his friends so that Sigrid's groom gets away scot-free and the real mastermind is caught. Nevertheless, the marriage fraudster of course no longer has a chance with Sigrid. (Text: ARD)

During his current transport, Milan delivers urns from Holland back to the local funeral home at night. But the next morning they disappeared. The undertaker is under a lot of pressure from his customers and passes this on to Milan: He is temporarily arrested. It doesn't help that Manfred Mattern puts in a good word for Milan to Chief Inspector Freitag. When the missing urns reappear, it becomes clear that Milan cannot be behind them. He is released again. When urns disappear again, “Mama” finds out why this is happening. The thief is after the valuable precious metals that are hidden among the ashes. (Text: ARD)

But the “mom” comes across another clue: his mother is invited to a fundraising gala in the neighboring retirement home. There, an ominous Samaritan collects donations for needy children in Africa. In dr. Elshoff's practice was burglarized. At first glance, apart from her mother's stethoscope, which is important to Elshoff, nothing is missing. Only when strange blackmail letters appear in "Mom's" environment does it become clear what the burglar was after: Dr. Elshoff's patients. Among those blackmailed are Chief Inspector Freitag, Willi and Ecki. “Mom” is the first to pat Sigrid on the fingers: Ecki's temporary help at the snack bar earns money through the cleaning job for Dr. Elshoff something about it. In particular, Sigrid's current flame, a hapless young pop singer, is targeted by Mattern's investigation. In fact, the two lovers were secretly in the practice as a couple.
