In the town of San Andrés, the Ramírez Inzunza and Valdés Rivero families celebrate the baptisms of their children, Alejandro and Alfonsina, at the same time. The rivalry between both clans will also reveal the dark secrets that unite them.
Father Juan runs Justo and Francisca out of the church, although he defends himself by telling the priest that she set a trap for him. After the sermon, Justo goes to the father to find out the price of his silence.
Margarita notifies Justo of Father Juan's death. Justo asks Álvaro to issue the death certificate. Rigoberto asks Gertrudis where his wife is, but then surprises her with Justo.
Justo and Francisca set fire to the cabin and the truck to cover up. Gertrudis realizes that something bad has happened to her sister, but she does not report her. Francisca visits Justo in the hospital and in front of his wife, makes a confession.
Margarita and Justo have a strong argument over Francisca's confession, so Margarita ends the relationship. However, he decides to keep up appearances, but under his conditions.
The years have passed and Alejandro returns to the hacienda after studying in the city. Meanwhile, Pilar does not miss the opportunity to encourage Bárbara and Alejandro to have a relationship.
Francisca asks Salvador for help so as not to lose the property, since it is mortgaged and Justo shows interest by offering a blank check to buy it. Alfonsina and Alejandro encounter something terrible.
Alfonsina and Alejandro find themselves in the middle of a fire. Later, Francisca discovers a horseshoe that could lead to the person who started the fire.
Francisca has the horseshoe of Justo's horse in her possession, so she is sure that she will make him pay for the damages. Justo goes into Alfonsina's room to talk to her.

The mother superior asks Father Salvador to talk to Alfonsina and try to convince her that the convent is not her place. As soon as they return home, Alfonsina finds Francisca on the floor and they take her to the hospital.
Francisca, in her last moments, lets Alfonsina know that the cause of her misfortunes is Justo Ramírez, so Alfonsina swears to keep her promise. Then they return to San Andrés and Alfonsina meets someone. Who will it be?
Alfonsina is determined to keep her promise and to do so, she does not want to have a relationship with anyone. Alfonsina visits Álvaro and makes a somewhat disconcerting request. In the office, a ghost from the past will appear.
Salvador asks Justo to stop bothering Alfonsina, but Justo assures him that there will be retaliation against her if she continues telling lies. Gilberto poisons Alejandro by telling him things about Barbara.
The incident with Alfonsina does not go unnoticed and when Alejandro finds out, he tries to find an answer, but Álvaro questions him if he really loves Bárbara. Gertrudis talks to Salvador and makes a confession.
Bárbara talks to Alejandro about the situation at El Manantial and how that issue is causing disputes between her parents. Alejandro questions Justo, who reacts violently. Margarita makes a proposal to Alfonsina.
The dispute between Justo and Álvaro has caused the doctor to make a decision about renting the house in El Manantial. Father Salvador suspects that Alfonsina's sister is alive.
Pilar tells Alejandro that Álvaro is cheating on her with Alfonsina. Pilar attacks Alfonsina in front of people. Margarita questions her son, asking him if he doesn't mind that Alfonsina has returned.
After a terrible episode between Pilar and Alfonsina, Gertrudis signs the rental contract and questions Álvaro about the birth of Francisca's second daughter. She later tells it to Salvador, who is up to something.
