Inspired by the story of Ingrid Falaise. A young woman meets a foreign student and falls in love. They quickly get married. The groom soon becomes physically and emotionally abusive. After 3 years, Sophie fully escapes M's hold on her.

Sophie, 22, finds the strength to escape her tormentor, helped by the detective hired by her family. Back in the family cocoon, she remembers her meeting with M, a foreign student who is as attractive as he is mysterious. Three years earlier, when she was a student and had her life ahead of her, Sophie had not hesitated to rush headlong into this close relationship despite the warnings and concerns of her parents.

Sophie consults a psychologist to try to get through it and never return to the arms of M. She remembers her first trip to the country of the man she admired then. He was this charming young man who dared to defy conventions and traditions out of love for her. But Sophie also remembers the difficulties at the start of their relationship: without his visa, which had been withdrawn due to legal proceedings filed against him in Montreal, M had not been able to come and join her in Quebec. And she remembers that she did not hesitate to return to North Africa to lend a hand to the one she loved. A second stay during which M’s true face was revealed little by little.

To reassure her family, Sophie accepts a stay at the shelter for women who have suffered domestic violence where she consults her psychologist. She also meets Yasmine, her former rival. In this environment, Sophie gradually realizes the mechanisms of the manipulation of which she was the victim. Having made her feel guilty for returning to Montreal without him, Sophie had lied, stolen and left everything to go find him and help him. In this final journey, isolated from her family, Sophie found herself completely under the influence of Mr.

Despite the advice of those close to her, Sophie is not ready to file a complaint against Mr. She still fears him, because she is married to him and knows that he believes he has all the rights over her. As soon as they got married, M was violent with her... Sophie had hoped that with obtaining the visa and their return to Montreal, everything would go back to the way it was before, but she quickly became disillusioned. Without money, distant from her family, she alone had to ensure the financial survival of the couple. Despite her good will, everything she did was never good enough for M, who, abusing drugs and alcohol, constantly hurt her. Until one evening, he commits a horrible and irreparable act.

Sophie tries to rebuild herself, but the traces of the physical and psychological violence she suffered remain engraved in her. Each gesture to return to a “normal and balanced” life requires considerable effort. She still remains determined to return to a happy life. This task becomes more and more difficult, since M does not leave her, both in his mind and in reality, where he still manifests himself, ready to do anything to win her back. Despite the unwavering support of her family cocoon, Sophie knows she is fragile. She suffered a gang rape ordered by M and even attempted suicide. Several times, she tried to free herself from the grip of her tormentor, but M is a determined young man, and his emotional blackmail has, until now, always brought Sophie back to his side.

M is determined to get Sophie back and tracks her to her new job. Like always, he presents himself in his best light, but Sophie knows that, to get out of it, she must not give in to temptation. She remembers this last time when she believed in his beautiful promises and agreed to return to live with him. His decision had destroyed his parents, and the honeymoon had been short-lived: anger and domination on M's part had returned in full force! But one evening, in the depths of horror, as he prepared to kill her, Sophie found the strength to escape her tormentor. Finally freed from M, Sophie must still get out of his psychological and emotional grip. It's a daily battle, especially since M is not at the end of his resources. To put an end to her Monster, Sophie will have to tell her story.
