When New China was founded in 1949, the Party Central Committee directed that high-level war criminals from the Chiang Kai-shek Group who were imprisoned across the country be transferred to Gongdelin in Beijing for centralized detention. Among them were Kuomintang generals Du Yuming, Wang Yaowu, Zeng Kuangqing, Huang Wei and others. At first they were resistant to the Communist Party's reform policies. In the difficult game of transformation and counter-transformation, their souls are quietly changing. Chairman Mao affirmed the achievements of the Kuomintang generals on the anti-Japanese battlefield during the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. The war criminal Ru Mu Chunfeng in Gongdelin was deeply moved and began to take the initiative to confess his history and crimes. On the eve of National Day in 1959, President Liu Shaoqi issued an amnesty order for war criminals from the Chiang Kai-shek clique and the puppet Manchukuo state. On this day, Du Yuming, Wang Yaowu and others took over the amnesty letters from the judges of the Republic. This was a reborn experience. In 1949, we were defeated on the battlefield by the Communist Party, and in 1959, we were spiritually conquered by the Communist Party.
