Fay (14) and Boris (10) discover that their parents secretly replaced themselves by robots. Claudia and Joost each have demanding jobs and even though they try very hard, they are not able to combine their jobs with spending quality time with their children. Boris, Fay, Claudia and Joost slowly realize they need each other as a family and when the robots become uncontrollable, they can only clear up the mess by working together.
The Hoogland family seems to lead a normal life. Well, normal... mostly chaotic. Mother Claudia and father Joost hardly manage to combine their busy jobs with their family, much to the chagrin of their children Fay and Boris. Until a solution comes from a mysterious company called Zenith and Claudia and Joost come face to face with two robots...
When Boris and Fay wake up in the morning, everything turns out to be different. Their parents suddenly have all the time and attention at breakfast: Joost unexpectedly picks up Boris from school, Claudia has an eye for Fay's nerdy interests and the household is in perfect order. Boris and Fay get the feeling that something is not right and they investigate...
Fay and Boris have discovered that their parents have had themselves replaced by robots. Now they want to talk to their real parents about it, but they are so busy that they don't even have time for that. The children benefit much more from their robot parents. Wouldn't those robots be so crazy after all?
Now that Boris and Fay realize that having robots as parents is pretty cool, they come up with a plan to bend the robots to their will. The real Joost and Claudia feel increasingly lonely and unhappy, but Fay and Boris are having the time of their lives with their new BFFs.
Boris and Fay can make the robots do anything. The robot version of Claudia does the homework of Fay's classmates and Boris makes a business by teaching bullies a lesson with the robot version of Joost. At Zenith they are starting to realize that the robots have been tinkered with. Meanwhile, the real Claudia and Joost try to improve contact with their children.
Fay throws a big house party that gets completely out of hand. Fay and Boris discover that they cannot live without their parents. They decide that life without robots might be better. But whether the robots agree with that decision...
